Hair loss
is one of the most common and dreaded medical conditions around
and is feared by both men and women alike. Hair loss prevention
and the quest for hair loss products has been an issue dating
back to ancient times. Although most hair loss actually begins
in our 20’s, its symbolism has grown to represent old age and a
loss of virility, with Sean Connery being the obvious exception.
Because of this, hair loss products have become a business
empire in its own rites.
Type “hair loss products” into your search engine and see for
yourself. The products listed will seem endless. Some of these
products are actual drugs approved by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) but for the most part, the list will
contain a variety of natural supplements, shampoos, and
vitamins.
Let’s start at the beginning. What causes hair loss to begin
with? Although there are several medical conditions that can
result in hair loss, the most common cause is the body’s own
overproduction of the chemical called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
This is the main factor in male pattern baldness. Most of the
natural hair loss products on the market today consist of herbs
and minerals that inhibit the body from producing DHT.
Supplements like Procerin, Revivogen, Propecia, and Hair Genesis
are rated among the top performers. These supplements all
contain ingredients that help decrease the body’s production of
DHT and allows for regrowth and restoration of the hair
follicles. Some supplements are available to you without
prescription, but others, like Propecia require one. Not all of
these supplements are for both men and women. Be sure to check
out the fine print for these and other recommendations before
you take anything.
There are many vitamin supplements on the market today that also
claim to help in the treatment of hair loss. These types of hair
loss products also claim to promote faster hair growth by
rejuvenating dead and damaged hair follicles, creating a
healthier environment for hair production. Again, make sure you
are taking a supplement that meets your specific needs.
There are also a variety of shampoos available on the market
that claim to work as hair loss products. Revivogen, Fast, and
Nisim NewHair are just a few of the shampoos that claim to
inhibit the production of DHT and stimulate hair growth allowing
the scalp to produce stronger, thicker hair even after the
effects of hair loss have become apparent. Most of these
shampoos are geared towards either men or women and claim that
you will see results in as little as three months.
Not all hair loss products are created equally. Many of the hair
loss supplements don’t actually contain any of the necessary
ingredients to promote hair restoration. Others contain the
right ingredients, but at the wrong strength or combination
while others have potentially serious side effects. Hair loss is
a medical condition and should be treated as such. Check with
your doctor before taking any hair loss product.
